About

ABOUT Us

Crew 167 has really grown over the past couple of years! Crew 167 was formed in 2015 and was a thriving active group, but in 2020 we suffered as many groups did due to the pandemic as well as many graduating members. It has definitely been an intense rebuilding the last few years and now we are better than ever, from a solid 5 active members in 2020 to now a thriving 17 active members!

In the last few years Crew 167 has had to opportunity to participate in many events, some were annual events, like ATVing, and Thanksgiving in the Woods. But it’s the annual Grayson Highlands backpacking trip in 2021 that brought a little something special to the crew. It was on that trip that Crew 167 found their mascot the “Crew Car” a lost green matchbox car they found on the trail. The "Crew Car" is now a staple in crew 167's bi-weekly meetings. The current president, Karis Hunt, started a new tradition involving the “Crew Car” which has been a great source of crew comradery. At each meeting, the “Crew Car” is awarded a crew member who has shown the ideals of the scout oath and law. Someone who has been an exceptional crew member full of passion and leadership. That member then keeps the car until the next meeting, during that time they take it wherever they go and take pictures with the car, to be shared with the crew and on Instagram! This has been a fun activity and everyone loves to participate.

Besides traditional annual adventures, Crew 167 has also started getting involved with beekeeping. Thanks to local beekeepers Crew 167 has had the opportunity to learn more about the ins and out of a hive, how to care for bees and their importance to our community and environment. The Crew has been able to participate in the extraction and collection of honey as well as try different flavors of honey based on the location of the hives. And let me tell you nothing tastes better than the honey straight from the hive! Crew 167 is currently starting its own hive and looks forward to all the wonderful honey they will be able to collect!

With all the wonderful things Crew 167 has done, we can’t wait to see how this amazing group of future leaders will do next.
